Laboratory of Engineering Geology

The Laboratory of Engineering Geology (EnGeo) was founded in 1988 as an organic unit of the Department of Geology of the University of Patras and became autonomous in 2000. EnGeo significantly contributes to the educational and research activities of the Department and allocates modern laboratory and scientific equipment. It is active in research issues related to the study and operation of engineering works and their impact on the environment, with geohazards and their treatment being a key research axis of the laboratory. The research team of the Laboratory includes faculty members, PhD students, postgraduate students, and external scientific collaborators. The laboratory also operates as a Service Unit of the University of Patras (https://mopy.upatras.gr/researcher/engeo/ ), providing its services in the fields of Engineering Geology, Geology of Engineering Works, and Rock Mechanics.

Laboratory testing of Soil and Rock
Laboratory tests on aggregates.
Specific laboratory tests such as: a) shear test on rock discontinuities and b) shear test of soils and geosynthetics in the large shear box.
Measurements with geotechnical instrumentation (inclinometer and piezometer probes) in boreholes .
Measurements of rock discontinuities and digitization using UAV and specific software
